NATIONAL GRANT AWARDED!
The Grants Committee at St. John’s is excited to tell you that we have been awarded $54,000 to restore the front walls behind the altar, to fix all the stained-glass windows that have damage, and to mitigate water damage from happening, from the National Fund for Sacred Places. We are one of 30 congregations of all denominations across the U.S. to receive funding. There were 466 applications submitted!
The Sacred Places program was extremely impressed with how much outreach we do at St. John’s, being such a small congregation, and the funding is meant to help us continue that outreach by preserving our National Historic building as a space-sharing place.
Part of this grant agreement is that St. John’s will match the $54,000 through fundraising. The grants committee is hard at work trying to find grant funding that will help, but it’s expected that a capital campaign will be needed for the bulk of the funding. (See “donate” button above, to get it started!)
